Director of SHAMANTRA LLC and a Certified Nia Black Belt creates
and holds space for people deeply embodied in the present
moment. Through authentic expression and play, one expands the
moment that you live into.
Once upon a time there were a few scattered dances here and there, and for the most part they all existed independently of one another. These were community gatherings like Dance Jam in Berkeley (now DanceJourney), Sacred Circle Dance
in Portland, or the original Ecstatic Dance at Kalani on the Big Island of Hawaii. And of course the many manifestations of Sweat Your Prayers, the less-structured format of
Gabrielle Roth's 5Rhythms. It was in the noticing of the commonalities between these that the recognition of a movement occurred. Fast-forward several years and with the help of a certain publication with the tagline 'movement for a better world'
, the 'movement movement' is indeed gaining momentum. Ultimately this publishing project is an expression of gratitude to all the movers and shakers worldwide who are pouring energy into the container of conscious dance. Like many of the dances and dancers involved, it's an ongoing ride of the waves of evolution, and continues to be an invitation to the world at large to jump in and find freedom in the dance. Thanks to you for putting the motion into the movement! ~M.M.

If we continuously maintain self-awareness, we will be able to experience peace and happiness. - Amma
Many spiritual teachers suggest developing a heightened state of awareness or 'mindfulness' through practices such as meditation. For over 25 years, I have found Authentic Movement to similarly help develop such inner presence and clear awareness. In this 5-day workshop, we engage our multi-dimensional selves as body, mind, and spirit. Weekly schedule includes morning Authentic Movement practice, afternoon dyads and 'tracking' exercises, as well as creative time in nature and sessions in Moving-from-Within™, dancing within community, later in the week.

PNEUMA DANCE
Where: Sonic Yoga 754 9th Avenue, NYC
When: Upcoming classes: July 15th, 17th, 22nd, 23rd
Pneuma Dance proposes the rediscovery of the dance as a sacred vehicle for profound internal transformation. A medium through which we can contact the most exalted aspect of our nature, our Deep Inner Being – or divinity within. We open to the serpentine undulations of the Shakti Kundalini and as we surrender our movements to that pure source of light within we come to live the freshness of Spirit in each moment, the eternally new.
Victoria will be offering classes related to the ancient wisdom of the Vedic goddesses Parvati, Durga and Kali – we will learn about the relevance of these archetypes to our inner process and how to open to these energies and experience them through the medium of sacred dance.
